The building of the Konakovsky Museum of Local history

Konakovsky Museum of Local history is a museum space that reflects the history of the region from the time of its human settlement to the present day. The exposition presents: the nature of the region, physical and geographical characteristics, information about natural objects.

It is a branch office of the Tver State United Museum (TSUM).

History of creting museum

The museum was opened to the public in April 1990. Before that, there was a public museum in Konakovo, created in 1981 by a group of local historians led by Vladimir Dmitrievich Trubin (1909-1996).

Exposition

Materials from archaeological studies of burial mounds near the villages of Zagorye, Zaborye, Clinics and villages characterize the culture of the region's population in ancient russian times and the Middle Ages. The Bronze Age is represented by finds from the Turginov burial ground of the Fatyanovo culture — clay vessels, stone axes, flint tools and weapons. Of particular value is a bronze chain with pagan amulets — a skate, a spoon, a bone pendant. Tver coins of the XV century are also kept here. The development of the region during the period of late feudalism (XVIII- mid-XIX centuries) is evidenced by copies of unique documents stored in the central archives of the country, portraits, books associated with the names of prominent people who were directly related to its history.

In the exposition you can see a map of the journey of Empress Catherine II along the Volga in 1767, which is associated with the first written mention of the village of Korcheva.

In the exposition dedicated to the period of capitalism, there are objects of peasant labor and everyday life of the second half of the XIX — early XX century.

The exposition of the Konakovsky Museum of Local history

The section of the exposition devoted to the history of Soviet society opens with materials about the establishment of Soviet power in the Korchevsky district of Tver province.

A large place in the exhibition is devoted to the pre-war period. The various exhibits reflect the development of industry and transport.

Maps, photographs, documents, personal belongings of war participants, remnants of weapons from the battlefield, household items tell about the difficult years of the Great Patriotic War on the territory of the district during the autumn-winter of 1941. Here you can see the interior of the living room of the post-war period of 1950-1960.

The final part of the exposition reflects the development of the district in the 1950-1980 years. The activity of leading industrial enterprises is shown: Konakovskaya GRES, faience plant named after Kalinin, a plant of steel structures and mechanized tools, Zavidovsky fine-cloth and felt factories.

The peculiarity of the Konakovsky Museum of Local history, the decoration of its exposition are the faience products presented here — the products of the Auerbach factory of the first half — middle of the XIX century, the factory of the "Partnership for the Production of Porcelain and Faience Products of M.S. Kuznetsov", the Tver Faience Factory named after M.I. Kalinin, modern products of the Konakov Faience Factory.
