Francisco Martínez is an anthropologist focusing on material culture and knowledge practices through ethnographic research (including methodological experiments and creative devices such as exhibitions).
In 2018, he was awarded with the Early Career Prize of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA). Currently, he works as Associate Professor at the School of Humanities of Tallinn University,[1] leading the research project ‘Europeanisation through Repair’ (Mobilitas Pluss ERC).[2]
Also, he is the co-editor of the Berghahn book series ‘Politics of Repair’[3] and sits at several editorial boards.[4] Before he has been a Lecturer in the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester,[5] and postdoc researcher at the University of Helsinki[6] and at Aalto University[7].
He has done fieldwork in Estonia, Georgia and Portugal, and published several books at the crossroad of material culture, repair, creative research methods and European anthropology. Also, he has curated different exhibitions – including ‘Objects of Attention’ (Estonian Museum of Applied Art & Design, 2019) ,[8] and published the novel Paseo Circular ['The Longest Way Round'] (Bifurcaciones, 2021).[9]
