Football World Heritage is a non profit, non-governmental organisation registered under the English law. Its purpose is to lead and support the inclusion of Football as an intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO.

History

[edit]

The organisation was founded in 2018 by Princess Rani Vanouska T. Modely, who also acts as its official ambassador.

The launch of the Football World Heritage campaign was officially announced in December 2018 in Forbes[1], together with the Football World Leaders ranking.

As a strong sign of her involvment for the cause, Princess Rani Vanouska T. Modely auctioned her earrings "Venus Emeralds" at Christie's[2][3] on 8th July 2020.

On 22nd February 2021, Qatar football player Almoez Ali was named Football World Heritage initiative ambassador in the presence of Arsène Wenger and HH Princess Rani Vanouska T. Modely[4].

Values and Support

[edit]

In line with the objectives set out in the 2030 sustainable development strategy adopted by the United Nations in New York in December 2015, Football World Heritage also aims to support projects in the fields of education, culture and environment, benefiting from the global reach and universally recognized values of football. It can promote and support projects at the international, national and local levels, and of a public or private nature.

Football players, managers and institutions pledged their support to Football World Heritage. The French news channel BFM TV mentions the support of Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann, Arsène Wenger and Georges Weah[5]. The president of French football club Olympique Lyonnais, Jean-Michel Aulas, as well as political and industrial figures such as Jacques Séguéla also pledged their support.
