American culture is a class that international students are required to take during the first semester at INTO USF. I have noticed that many students are having difficulties writing notes and understanding the lectures because of the change in the education environment which is different from one country to the others.

The New Deal Culture.

I.Remaking corporate liberalism is fixing the problems that existed and making the country a super power •Social security: Distant regulation to allow for the safe environment created by federal government Make working class more secure •Collective bargaining: Give some power to the working people and created workers unions which had representatives that address the issues to manager •Regional planning: Using the land efficiently… have too much land & not using it properly. Started to build dams on the rivers→ economic boost, created jobs

II.The Culture of Community Work in groups to fix problems as a community •Government murals and documentary photographs: Make records and spread new deal culture Murals were painted to show new deal culture, usually painted on walls •Contour plowing and ecology: Researching what to do to make farming better and avoid the dust storms→ began to plow & make contour lines that protected the land from moving after it plowed and it prevented a lot of dust that caused dust storms by keeping soil together Ecology: 1 problem has many different factors in the environment → he argues that you needed to have a holistic approach to agriculture. You cannot just take away 1 problem; you need to take in account everything.

III.Streamline is movement of imaging air floating dynamics, such as futuristic style.

Other key terms: . Wagner Act: Act that made unions legal.

.Dorothea Lange: famous photographer who took pictures during great depression like the dustbowl and the new dams that were. She recorded what it looked like before and after.

.Aldo Leopold: Biologist, works in agriculture. Father of ecology.

.Ansel Adams: Photographer of landscapes. Experimented with light, would wait until the shade was just right.

.Futurama: world’s fair, “world of tomorrow” showed how streamlines effected highways.
