Hi! My name is Estelle Smith. I am currently a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Colorado School of Mines as of January 2023. I go by my middle name, and you can see my published my research papers on Google Scholar at "C. Estelle Smith".
In the past, I have completed a research project in collaboration with the Wikimedia Foundation about Value-Sensitive Algorithm Design with the aim of helping to improve the Objective Revision Evaluation Service (ORES). This open access paper was published in the 2020 CHI Conference Proceedings.[1] I also contributed to a project exploring Wikidata editors motivations for contributing to the project which was published at the 2022 CSCW Conference.[2] Please ping me on my talk page or get in touch with me via my website if you'd like to discuss this work, or other research possibilities.
Here are the main details of my bio:
