Crazy Wedding is a Ukrainian comedy film directed by Vlad Dykyi.[1][2] The plot of the script of the Ukrainian film was borrowed from the French film of 2014 Serial (Bad) Weddings.[3]

The film was released in Ukraine on October 4, 2018.

Plot[edit]

The events take place in the village of Yablunivka, which is located in Podolia.

It is a matter of honor for Vasyl Serediuk, the director of the regional museum of regional history, to organize the wedding of his beloved daughter Katya not just at the highest, but at the European level. After all, his future son-in-law Francois is not only a heart surgeon, but a real European. And also — a dream opportunity to enter the history of the district and once and for all to put an annoying neighbor in his place. But when it turns out that the groom is an Afro-French man, Vasyl is ready to do anything to disrupt the wedding. How will the crazzy battle of the father with his own stereotypes end?[4]

The film became one of the winners of the 10th competitive selection of Derzhkino. The total budget of the film is 10.8 million hryvnias, of which State Cinema's share was ~10%, namely 1.18 million hryvnias.[5]

Filming of the comedy began in the summer of 2018.[6] Initially, Dmytro Malkov was supposed to be the director of the film, but later he was replaced by Vlad Dykyi.[7][8] Subsequently, the singer Potap (Olexii Potapenko) became a co-producer of the tape.[9]

Part of the filming took place in Zalishchyky, in the Ternopil region (in the film itself, another name is the fictional Yablunivka).

In May 2018, a joint song by the bands Time and Glass, Mozgi and singer Michelle Andrade called "Ray" was released, which became the soundtrack to the film.[10] And already in September, Potap and Oleh Vynnyk presented a duet song for the film called "The Best Day", in particular, they also performed episodic roles in the film.[11]

The tape received mixed reviews from Ukrainian film critics.[12]
