Karen Paulina Rojo Venegas (Antofagasta, July 9, 1980) is a chemical-pharmaceutical and Chilean politics. During 2012 she was SEREMI of Public Health of the Antofagasta region. From 2012 to 2020 she exercised as mayor of the Antofagasta commune.

On June 15, 2018, Rojo was formalized by the crime of fraud to the treasury following the contracting, through the "Corporation for Social Development", of the "Strategic Communication Main Communication" consultancy, between the years 2015 and 2016, To which he was supposedly paid not to carry out the officially communicated work, but rather for advising the mayor in his campaign for re-election. Next to her, the director of the Consultant José Miguel Izquierdo, the Exsecretary of the CMDS, Edgardo Vergara, and the Municipal Administrator, Héctor Gómez, were formalized, the prosecutor's office requested to extend the term of the investigation of the called «Main case» for three more months, a situation that would be repeated in January and April 2019. On July 4, 2019, Rojo was reformalized by crime of negotiation incompatible for the same case, and the closing of the investigation It was postponed, and once again in October 2019. Finally, on June 12, 2020, the research was closed to give way to oral trial, whose preparation audience was held on July 13. Subsequently, it was notified that the trial would take place on September 15, 2020. On December 31, 2020, Rojo was condemned by the crime of fraud to the treasury, in relation to the services that the "Municipal Corporation for Social Development of Antofagasta" hired with the company "Main". The sentence was informed by the Oral Criminal Court of Antofagasta" on January 18, 2021, and consists of a 5-year penalty and a day of effective prison, the payment of a fine of $ 4344485 pesos and disqualification Perpetual for political rights. The defense of it brought a resource of nullity against the sentence, which was rejected by the "Supreme Court" on March 23, 2022; The next day was reported that Rojo had fled the country in the direction of the Netherlands on a KLM flight. In parallel to the criminal case, four councilors denounced Rojo before the "Regional Electoral Tribunal" by remarkable abandonment of duties and seriously infringe the probity rules. In mid-2020, the Agency disabled it to exercise public office for five years. Rojo appealed the decision, but the "Court Court of Elections" (Tricel) ratified the resolution in May 2021.
