Epilepsy

Consequences

[edit]

ADHD and epilepsy have significant consequences on a child's behavioral, learning, and social development.[1] Physical, emotional, and social functioning of youth are interfered specifically if seizures are uncontrolled.[2] Some other noted consequences on repeated seizures are neuronal loss, gliosis, parenhymal microhemorrhages, excess of starch bodies, leptomeningeal thickening, subpial gliosis, perivascular gliosis and periavascular atrophy.[3] But these consequences are dependant on age, etiology, seizure duration, and frequency.[4] A collaborative effort between health care providers, caregivers, families, and teenagers with epilepsy is required to prevent these consequences.[5]
