Tapioca Express (品客多; pinyin: Pǐnkèduō) is a Taiwanese American fast food/Quick-Serve Restaurant chain specializing in Tapioca bubble tea, coffee, and a variety of fruit juices and slushes, including bento-style Asian meals and authentic Asian snacks. Tapioca Express is headquartered in Southern California,[1] and has locations in California,[2] Texas,[3] Colorado,[4] Nevada, Hawaii,[5] Washington, and British Columbia, Canada. Many of their locations have Free WI-FI Internet.


Tapioca Express follows a franchise model, which insures stringent quality control over all its locations, requiring each franchise owner to purchase supplies and ingredients from the corporate headquarters. [6] This creates a standard of drinks, foods, and customer service at all locations.

Tapioca Express has social media sites, such as: Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.

Tapioca Express has completed the S.O.P. (Standard Operation Procedure), in addition to the previous S.O.C. (Station Observation Checklist).

Tapioca Express – The Birth of the Pearl Tapioca Express first started in Los Angeles, California in August of 1999. From the beginning, they wanted to provide only the best drinks and snacks with the finest of ingredients and recipes. In their enthusiasm for providing tea lovers fine tea drinks, they grew at a rapid rate, enabling their Franchise to spread all throughout California into other states, and even countries. Now, their customers can taste and enjoy their special drinks in a "cozy and welcoming environment" from states of California, Washington, Texas, and Nevada in the USA to Richmond in Canada. [7]

Genuine Pearls - Exceptional Quality Pearl (Boba) Milk Tea is a special tea-based drink originally from Taiwan. Tapioca Express has successfully brought this tea drink culture to the United States. Most of their ingredients are imported from Taiwan so that tea lovers can have a genuine experience in trying these unique Taiwanese drinks. Their tea leaves are hand selected and coupled with their recipes, tea lovers can now indulge in the rich history of the Asian Tea Culture. 1999 The first store opened on Valley Boulevard in the city of Alhambra, in Los Angeles County, California. [9]

2000 Their second and third stores were founded by expanding to Northern California at a blistering rate as they began establishing a franchise. [10]

2001 Tapioca Express formally introduced Italian Espresso series into their menu.

2002 Tapioca Express became famous and recognized among beverage consumers. Their drink choices reached over a hundred and their franchise increased to 45 stores at the end of 2002. [11]

2003 Tapioca Express was honored with the 27th Annual Awards Banquet – “The Strength of Team” from American Asian Business Association in 2003 [12]. These honors endorsed Tapioca Express’s teamwork and corporation.

2004 Their R & D developed Expresso TeaTM machines in March.

2005 Their Marketing Department collaborated with other industries and charities, such as sponsoring the F4 Concert in Western America.

2006 They created Expresso TeaTM. They spent two years making the machines and testing the new tea drinks to prepare the tea maker nova for the market in 2007.

2007 Tapioca Express was listed by Los Angeles Business Journal as the 16th among Top 25 LA-County based franchisors. [13] Their unique, exceptional Expresso Tea kept them as pioneers in the beverage industry. Their current goal is to meet 100 franchisees in the USA.

2008 Tapioca Express opened the first store inside of University campus - University of San Diego, California. [14]

2009 Tapioca Express developed the Express Tea Cart that includes all kinds of teas from all over the world; it specializes in making natural tea drinks, but can also make all other fresh drinks.

2010 Tapioca Express joined the Social Media Network by creating a Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, in addition to debuting their first kiosk location, where they introduced their Premium Tapex TeaHouse.

Drinks & Foods[edit]

Tapioca Express Drinks brought the boba drink culture to the United States.[15] They have introduced over 100 unique drinks to their menu, ranging from juices to teas, and coffees to milk teas, and their tradmark items, the Snow Bubble and Yogurt Frost.

Tapioca Express Combo Sets are rice combos that bring the Taiwanese style “to-go” bento and drinks into the US market. They are made to order.

Tapioca Express Snacks provide several choices of original Taiwanese snacks. Their crispy chicken, or popocorn chicken, has been called unique and outstanding by their customers. [16] The TapEx fried tempura, calamari ring, and pot stickers also bring western America a great Taiwanese snack experience.
