Tillery was born in Minneapolis.

Personal Life

Tillery is known by many as a hipster, a term he abhors. His oeuvre (one humble Bacon Review) has appeared on a blog; Tillery is a frequent commenter on the blog Hipster Runoff. Tillery does not own a car - he relies on a vintage, late 70s Trek bicycle as transportation. In whatever spare time he has, Tillery listens to music - he is an avid fan of Yo La Tengo, P-Funk, Neon Indian, Big Star, Gil Scott-Heron, Bon Iver, and Roger Miller, amongst other bands/artists. Tillery's favorite cuisines are Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican, and Thai (via cultural awareness); his favorite food is the Reuben sandwich. Tillery is single, but is currently looking for a beautiful girlfriend, preferably a "hipster" chick. Tillery is left leaning politically, but remains unaffiliated (via his multitudinous radical viewpoints not aligning with any party's philosophy). Tillery is a patron of Whole Foods, and eats Doritos out of irony. Tillery's favorite authors include Tao Lin, Wells Tower, Raymond Carver, George Saunders, Jack Kerouac, and Hunter S. Thompson. Tillery is also an aficionado of vintage automobiles.
