La Grand Rive

La Grand Rive is a castle located in Auvergne in France, the building is famous in its native region for its architecture caracteristic of the paper mill factory from the pre-industrial era, the building is listed as historical heritage since 1984. The domaine was the largest water powered paper factory in France over the XVIIe and XVIIIe century. La Grand Rive is known in the paper industry as its infrastructures were use as illustration in the Diderot Encyclopedia. Originally the domaine was the property of the Dupuy noble family. In 1903 Jean-Baptiste Garrait an industrial from the region (Livradois-Forez) buy the domaine to the family. Today, the domaine is still the private property of the Garrait family and is currently under restoration.
