G.B.Bledsoe holds a PhD in 20th Century European History from The Florida State University. His Masters thesis was on the pacifist movement in the British Labour Party during WW I. His doctoral dissertation was titled "The Quest for Permanencia: Spain in the League of Nations, 1920-1931." Research for his dissertation was conducted in the archives of the Spanish Foreign Ministry in Madrid. Bledsoe has taught at Auburn University, Florida State, and Randolph-Macon College in Virginia, where he earned tenure teaching European and Russian history. His paper on Spanish diplomacy was published in a scholarly journal in Spain. He later served as Regional Director of University Outreach at Michigan State University. Bledsoe was also a program director at the American Association of University Professors and the National Education Association, both in Washington, D.C. After retiring from the staff of California Teachers association, Bledsoe has been teaching courses for the Life-Long Learning Program (LLP) at the Allende Institute, part of the University of Guanajuato, located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. During his career, Bledsoe has served as a lobbyist in five states for higher education. In California, for example, he was able to convince the legislature to pass a bill protecting a university professor's lecture as intellectual property, owned by the professor. Since 2012. Bledsoe has taught eleven LLP short courses on Mexican history ranging from the Spanish conquest in 1521 to the 21st century.
