Lola by Daniel Daviau

Born in Sarlat in 1962, Daniel Daviau grew up in the heart of Périgord. He spent his childhood in the countryside where he cultivated the love for nature and animals.

Having studied sculpture and worked with wood, he decided that bronze would be his chosen material through which he would convey his artistic message. He portrays a variety of animals such as rhinoceros, lemur, kangaroos and even more familiar animals.

The purity of his lines, the elegant economy of his design made him one of the most contemporary sculptors of the Animalier Art. He is a follower of the French school illustrated by François Pompon and Charles Artus[1].

He became the vice-president of the Salon National des Artistes Animaliers] in 2001 and his work was also rewarded with the Edouard-Marcel Sandoz prize, the highest distinction in his sector, in 2000. In 2013 he was presented with a gold medal at the Louvre by the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. His works have been acquired by art collectors around the world; New York, Shanghai, Beijing, Washington, Paris, London, Geneva, Milan, Brussels, Moscow, Miami and Palm Beach. The sculptures of Daniel Daviau are presented in museums as well as in art fairs since 1992, notably the PAD in Paris, Armory Show in New York, Masterpiece in London and the Fine Art Fairs in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

His animals were presented at the Hôtel de la Monnaie in Paris, to BBK of Bilbao and passed through the Musée des Années 30 of Boulogne in the exhibition “Cent Sculptures Animalières du 20ème Siècle” in 2012.

He has worked with Galerie Dumonteil on monumental projects for public spaces[2] or large private collection and property developments. Galerie Dumonteil has internationally represented Daniel Daviau exclusively for more than twenty years.
