Stephen Brodsky.
BRODSKY, Gabriel Wilfrid Stephen, B.A, (Queen’s U., Canada), (M.A. (U. of Victoria, Canada), D.Phil (U. of York, U.K.), born in 1933, is an author and research scholar in Literature of War and Joseph Conrad Studies. His books include Gentlemen of the Blade: A Social and Literary History of the British Army Since 1660, and Joseph Conrad’s Polish Soul: Realms of Memory and Self. As a Canadian Army career soldier (1951-83) he served in NATO (West Germany), as a UN Peacekeeper (Cyprus and Kashmir), and as an instructor of officers. In the academic faculty of Royal Roads Military College (Victoria, Canada) he was a military professor of Literature, and as a civilian, appointed as Special Lecturer. An erstwhile Trustee of the Joseph Conrad Society of America (2012-14), he continues to write publish literary criticism and reviews.
