Jiangxin Island is located in the center of Oujiang River in the north of Wenzhou city, surrounded by rivers, with an area of about 693,333 square meters.

In ancient times, Jiangxin Island was divided into two small islands.Xie Lingyun, a Chinese poet from the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties, landed on the island and wrote "乱流趋正绝,孤屿媚中川。云日相辉映,空水共澄鲜"

The temple was established in 866

In 969 the East and West Pagodas were built

In 1137 Sanghu Qing preached the sutras at the emperor's command and connected the two islands together.Jiangxi Temple was established.

In 1974, under the direction of the government of the People's Republic of China, the island was rebuilt and the park was expanded from 60 mu to 1,000 mu.

In 1981, the East Pagoda and West Pagoda of Jiangxin Island were listed as cultural relic protection units of Wenzhou City.

In 1997, the East Pagoda and West Pagoda of Jiangxin Island were listed as one of the hundreds of historical lighthouses in the world.

In 2000, the East European Bridge was built and opened to traffic on Jiangxin Island.

Jiangxin Temple:

The existing Jiangxin Temple was rebuilt in the fifty-fourth year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1789), covering an area of about 2,870 square meters, with three halls in front, middle and back.


East tower :

East Tower of Jiangxin Island

The east tower was first built in 869. It is said that it was built in 969. It was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1141.Repeated repairs.The tower is 28 meters high, the bottom diameter is more than 8 meters, 6 sides and 7 layers, surrounded by green bricks.

West Pagoda of Jiangxin Island

West tower:

The construction of the West Pagoda began in 969, and it is said that it was built in 869. It was repaired many times during the Ming and Qing dynasties.The tower is 32 meters high and 7 meters in bottom diameter. It has 6 sides and 7 floors. It is a hollow building with pavilion-style black brick imitation wood structure.


Integrity as floor:

Haoran Building is located to the east of Wenxin National Ancestral Hall. It was built in 1580.Building for the wooden structure of three double eaves rest the top of the hill, chic modelling.


ChenXianPavilion:

Chengxian Pavilion, formerly known as Waterland Pavilion, was built in 1102 of the Northern Song Dynasty at the southern foot of the West Tower Mountain.1591 rebuilt, is two - story three - timbered building.


Cultural legend:

Anchovies are a very famous specialty in Wenzhou. As one of the delicacies of Wenzhou people, the anchovies living in the shallow sea will gather on the river surface of Jiangxin Island in March every year, and the fishermen nearby will go fishing together.Legend has it that a poet of the Southern Song Dynasty in China was studying on the island of Jiangxin. His diligence and eagerness to learn moved the immortal and he gave him anchovies to eat.

At the beginning of the Poetry Conference, dozens of contemporary poetry masters gathered on Jiangxin Island to write famous articles for this lonely island for thousands of years, to speak for the poetry of Jiangxin Island in the name of poetry, and to help build a golden name card for the cultural tourism of Jiangxin Island.
