Rohit Mehra is an IRS (Indian Revenue Service) officer of 2004 batch and is posted as Additional Commissioner in Income Tax Department. He was born on 25 May 1977 and is from Amritsar. He is known as Green-Officer and Green-man of Punjab for his environment-friendly steps. He is also known as the father of Vertical-gardens in India. He has created more than 500 vertical gardens in various cities of Indian. This includes vertical-gardens with plastic bottles at Amritsar, Jullunder, Bhatinda, Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, Surat, Delhi, Gurgaon, Kanpur, Jammu, Baroda, etc, All his vertical gardens are made of waste plastic bottles. He has used close to 7 lakhs waste plastic bottles to create vertical gardens.[1] He is the man behind the first vertical garden in the railway-station in Ludhiana.[2] He also holds a Limca Book Of Record for the largest vertical garden in Indian which is at Income-Tax Ofiice in Ludhiana. He has created a large vertical garden in the Golden Temple in Amritsar which is the largest vertical garden with waste plastic-bottles in the world.[3] He has also created a vertical-garden with waste plastic-bottles at IIT, Jammu. He has also created more than 30 Micro-jungles in India on the principles of Vrikshayurveda and Miyawaki.[4] Also, he is known as Seed-Ball Man of India. He has used seed-balls in which seeds are wrapped in clay with some nutrients and used this as a method of large scale plantation. He has used this technique of seed-balls and has got created more than 20 lakh seed balls. He has also tutored more than 1 lakh students as to how to make seed-balls.[5][6] He has planted more than 7 lakh sapling and trees. He has also led a green-plantation drive-by involving the public wherein ancient Indian trees of Panchvati (five trees namely Amla, Bael, Banyan, Ashoka, and Peepal ) are planted.[7] He has been invited for lectures in various schools, colleges, IITs, IIMs, and industrial-houses. He was also called by National Television (Doordarshan National) for an interview on the steps he has taken for greenery.[8] He also writes a blog by the title Design Your Destiny. He has also written a book by the name Super-Child which is a book on parenting.[9]
