Early life
[edit]Marion Marguerite Butler was born November 25, 1929, in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia.[1] After graduating from the Philadelphia High School for Girls, she worked as a librarian for the Free Library of Philadelphia.[2]

Archival work
[edit]Stokes acquired a Betamax video cassette recorder in 1975, which she used sparingly to record sitcoms, science documentaries, and current events.[3]
