MISTY STREET

Misty Street is rock-folk-pop group based out of Brandon, Manitoba. The group was formed by vocalist Mariah Phillips and guitarist/ vocalist Greg Gibson in the summer of 2007. The two musicians met while playing in a local band in Brandon, Manitoba and they quickly recognized they had both musical and songwriting chemistry and began writing and performing songs together. Mariah Phillips, the predominant lyricist in the team, has a penchant for writing songs that are personal and multifaceted, with ideas that encompass empowerment and frailty, delight and sadness, assuredness and wonder.

In December 2007, Misty Street wrote and recorded “Stop Channel Surfing”, a commercial jingle for Brandon Manitoba’s “In Motion” television campaign. The commercial, with the jingle prominently placed, was aired in February and March of 2008 on local Brandon- area television stations. In spring 2009, Misty Street released their first independent c.d., “Sweet” which was partially funded through a FACTOR grant. The c.d. has garnered considerable attention from the local media and residents of Brandon. Since it’s inception, Misty Street has been active on the local music scene in Brandon and regularly plays venues and events throughout the community and surrounding Westman area. The group currently consists of Mariah Phillips on Vocals, Greg Gibson on bass and vocals, Matt Cory on guitar, Cody Williamson on drums and percussion, and Debbie McLachlin on keyboards and backing vocals.

In terms of future prospects, the band is beginning to cultivate a following in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and has played some intimate venues in the city. Misty Street is planning to continue its exposure in the Winnipeg area in order to increase it’s following though regular gigs and media exposure. Videographer and filmmaker Graham Street recently completed a video for the song Lost (from the c.d. “Sweet”) and a formal release date was December 2011.
