Gladys Lucy Adshead (1896-1985) was a writer of children's books. She was born April 25, 1896 in Manchester, England, the daughter of James Frederick Adshead and Bertha Wilson Groome Adshead. She was educated at the Froebel Educational Institute.

She was a teacher and headmistress in various private schools in England and in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Illinois in the United States. She was a member of the Royal Society of Teachers. She is best known for her "Brownie Books", written between 1938-1971.
