Tutorial 1 - Week 3[edit]

Activity 2:[edit]

I looked at slalom skiing. The first article was published on the 17th of February 2002. The article to me seems quite opinionated. For example the first sentence: 'Slalom is regarded as the most technical of the alpine ski disciplines'. I would not include these kind of generalisations, as they are not based on fact and therefore do not belong in an encyclopedia. I would edit these statements out and replace them with cite-able facts which are educational for the audience.

The article is also very short and has no subsections at all. I would have added a lot more information to the page - in the revision history I can see that substantial subsections were added by 2008. I think if I were to have made the second edit I would have used what the first author had already written to form a somewhat structure for the article but add more information. The article also has poor grammar which I would edit out, or just rephrase some of the sentences in general. Additionally there are no hyperlinks in the article (perhaps they weren't possible in 2002), but I would try and add them in to provide even more information - I can see in the revision history that in 2006 Hyperlinks were added to this article. There are no images on the page, I would add images to make it more engaging.
