List of spambot blocking reasons

[edit]

Here is a list of codes that I may use to identify kinds of spambot ips that I have blocked. IPs are probably belonging to compromised PCs or open proxies. Since they may be dynamic the time is limited to 3 or 6 months. Blocking for a second time will result in a longer bock as it is likely a permanent tool for spammers.

  • spambot - generic for spambots. Often these are in Cyrillic and it takes too much effort to workout which bot it is. Often own talk needs to be stopped too.
  • spambot ave - predicting future using psychic means in French
  • spambot adv - advertising service
  • spambot bar - starts posting with three vertical bars
  • spambot behaviour - looking for people who are easily scammed
  • spambot bid - check my bid - needs talk page block too
  • spambot cart - advertising cartridges.
