De Wet Hugo (born 26 November 1982) is a South African author of children's literature.
Biography[edit]
De Wet Hugo was born on 26 November 1982 in Worcester in the Boland. He has three older sisters and they grew up on the farm Spes Bona, between Worcester and Villiersdorp. After completing his primary school career in Worcester, he matriculated in Paarl. After this he obtained a teaching degree at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Wellington and a postgraduate qualification at Stellenbosch University.
In 2006 he started his teaching career at Ysterplaat Primary School in Cape Town and from 2007 to 2009 he taught at De Hoop Primary School in Somerset West. During this period he discovered his love for writing and attended Marianna Brandt's children's book writing course. Shortly after this, he wrote a few episodes for the children's show Cool Catz on E-TV.
In 2010 he decided to work as a teacher abroad and left for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, where he worked for twelve years at a British International School. Hugo is currently in Hangzhou, China where he teaches English at Wellington College.
