I am a Dutch biologist who is currently living in Leuven, Belgium, where I worked on obtaining doctorate in science, having been involved in the Sagalassos Archeological Research Project as a Palynologist. I’ve been seriously wasting time on photography since 2004 and I love to travel around and take pictures of all the beautiful sites I see. These photographs have found their way to a number of places on the internet such as Panoramio and the Belgian site Erf-goed.be.
In 2010, my attention was drawn to the Wiki Loves Monuments project via the latter site and I have periodically uploaded relevant photographs to Wikimedia in the hope that they will serve some use in helping Wikipedia users learn a little more about the Dutch architectural heritage. In 2011, I have also started to include photographs taken in Belgium, hoping to share the beauty of Wallonia and the remaining examples of interesting architectural heritage in Flanders. My photographic contributions to Wikimedia Commons can be found on my Commons account
Although having been pretty active on the Dutch and English Wikipedia pages years ago, my activity dwindled as other real-life issues took precedence. Having been more active on Wikipedia in recent times, contributing to existing pages every now and then and occasionally providing a more significant rewrite if the need was there, I decided to register as it's simply more convenient.
I hope to expand the scope of my contributions, not only competing in Wiki Loves Monuments, and making a more substantial contribution to Wikimedia NL and Wikimedia Belgium, as well as increasing my input in Wikipedia itself.
