Kiser Lake[edit]

Kiser Lake is a manmade lake created in the small-town St. Paris Ohio, located in Champaign County. This Lake is an Ohio marked camp as well as a stop along one of the longest bike paths in the country. The lake includes a multitude of different activities including camp sites, sailing, a beach, and the most popular fishing.

Lake attractions[edit]

One of the major attractions that put Kiser Lake on the map is the Ohio to Indiana Trail. The Lake and the county put on activates along this trail including competitive runs, biking events, and charity walks. The camp grounds allow many to stop along the trail at the lake. The camps provide fire pits, a fishing store with optional rentals, and parking for campers. The lake takes the opportunities of this being a “quiet lake” meaning no gas powered engines by offering summer caps, beach front, and sailing lessons.

Fishing[edit]

A large portion of the lake consist of a multitude of different fish that attract a large variety of fisherman. According to the ODNR, or Ohios department of Natural Resources, there are 9 species of fish that are in the waters. The list of fish that are in the lake are as fallow:

·      Largemouth bass

·      Bluegill

·      Pumpkinseed sunfish

·      Channel catfish (stocked every other year)

·      Crappie

·      Yellow perch

·      Bullhead

·      Carp

·      Gizzard shad

This lakes fisherman population stays limited due to the fact that motorized boats are band on the lake. This limits the amount of people on the lake allowing them to promote other things such as sailing.
