My name is James Joseph Guffey and my sixth Great Grand Father on the Guffey side of our family was in fact John Hancock, who signed The Declaration Of Independence. I am a descendant of this great founding father of our great country. Let us not forget what The Declaration Of Independence stands for. I am also related to the Hatfields and McCoys. Back in the day our family once owned over half of Wayne County, Kentucky and parts of the Cumblerland Gap area. On my step mother's side of the family we are related to Sargent York, who single handedly took capture of a group of Nazi germans in World War I with a turkey call. We are direct descendences of William McGuffey who wrote The Mc.Guffey Electric Readers, a series of books that our Great Grand Parents teachers in school used to teach English Grammar and Phonics. Our family tree goes back to North ScotLand and Ireland dating back to 1270 A.D.
