Strategy  [edit]

Social media advertising involves creating content on social media platforms, engaging with followers, and running social media advertisements. To have successful social media advertising one must use strategy, planning and publishing, engagement, analytics, and advertising.  [1]

Strategy[edit]

When using strategy, one must know the goals they want to achieve and decide which social media platform they will use.  [2]

Planning and Publishing[edit]

Planning and publishing on social media is important step. Planning and publishing can be as simple as planning and publishing a tweet on Twitter.[3]

Listening and engagement[edit]

Another important step is listening and engagement. To do this it is important to look at comments, tags, hashtags that the target audience is engaging in.  [4]

Analytics[edit]

Analytics consist of having the knowledge of how the social media marketing is performing. For example this will be how many people were reached on your specified social media platform, or how many mentions the brand got during the month.  [5]

Advertising[edit]

Advertising will help a brand spread the awareness of their brand. Participating in different advertising campaigns can cause more traffic to the brands name.  [6]

Application[edit]

People who use social networking sites give various information about themselves, including their age, gender, interests and location, which is stored on the servers of social media companies. This stored information allows advertisers to create specific target groups and individualize their advertisements. The advantage for advertisers is that their ads can reach to a specific set of audience who are interested in the product or service. The advantage for users is that they can see ads that are relevant to their interest.

Twitter[edit]

Twitter is a social networking service where individuals post "tweets" about anything. Twitter first known as Twtter was found July 15, 2006[7]. As of May 28, 2020 a source called Hootsuite states, "More than 80% of Twitter's global population is under 50 years old."[8], Twitter is an app that is mainly used by teenagers. Advertising on Twitter is based solely on interacts an individual makes on the app. Advertisements that are shown on an individual's twitter feed is based on the information provided from that individuals profile. Advertisements that are shown on twitter are classified under three names: Promoted Tweets, Promoted Accounts, and Promoted Trends. [9] Certain advertisements that are placed on an individual's feed can be based on what is popular around the world, or even local to that individual's location, if location services are on.

LinkedIn[edit]

LinkedIn is a social media platform that was launched on May 5, 2003. Reid Hoffman along with the help of team members from PayPal and Socialnet.com LinkedIn was created as an online platform to help employers connect with potential employees. The common type of advertisements on LinkedIn are primarily sponsored post or direct sponsor content. These types of advertisements are used to share content, company updates and to direct users to a landing page.[10]

Advantages[edit]

Improve brand loyalty- Advertising in social media helps companies create a platform where their customers can share their feelings about the product or services offered.[11]

Better Search Engine Ranking- Advertising on social media will bring more online traffic to the company. Individuals use Google as a way to find products, so advertising on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook will help companies with their search engine ranking.[12]
