SUNY Korea is located in Songdo International City, Incheon, South Korea, designated as the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA).

History[edit]

After the opening of the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) on March 19, 2012, SUNY Korea became the first American university in Korea. SUNY Korea started off with two majors from Stony Brook University (SBU), Computer Science and Technology and Society[1], offering both Masters and Doctoral degrees. Features[edit]

The graduation certificate received is identical to that of the home campus, and the report card is also the same as that issued directly by SUNY in the United States. In other words, all matters related to admissions, curricula, academics, academic management, and graduation are operated by SUNY in the United States, and graduation certificates and transcripts are issued directly by the New York Campus. Therefore, all students who study and graduate from SUNY Korea receive the same degree/graduation certificate as those who graduate from the New York campus (Stony Brook and FIT).

Currently, SUNY Korea provides the same curriculum as the New York Campus, and SUNY Korea SBU students can enjoy the same benefits and programs during their mandatory year in the U.S. In the case of FIT, students can get a bachelor's degree after studying in Korea for two years and then studying in New York or Italy for the remaining two years.

Students from SUNY Korea who study in Stony Brook (New York) for a year are not subject to any restrictions or limitations in participating in various events or programs. In addition, there are prerequisite courses required in each department before visiting the home campus, so students can take as many liberal arts classes as they want, as well as the upper-level 300-400 major classes one needs to take for a year. Above all, the possibility of receiving an international scholarship, and the ability to experience both the SBU and FIT campuses, are 2 huge advantages of the SUNY Korea system.

In the case of the SBU program, when visiting the New York campus, students will receive an I-20 from the New York campus and get an F-1 visa for one year. (This is a necessary procedure for all international students who study in the U.S.)
