Hamilton News is a community newspaper in New Zealand and is delivered free to thousands of Hamilton homes. The original Hamilton News, the Waikato Weekender, was launched in 1977 by media mogul Barry Colman who subsequently went on to pick up a Queen's Service Medal for his contribution to publishing. Hamilton News has been published in many guises - following the Waikato Weekender it became Waikato This Week then Hamilton This Week and in 2010 it became Hamilton News. It is part of APN NZ Ltd stable of newspapers which includes the New Zealand Herald and the Bay of Plenty Times.
