From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Be gentle. I'm new to Wikipedia.

As a stay-at-home mom, my primary exposure to Wikipedia has been through my kids as they look things up for school. I'm always reminding them that Wikipedia is written by volunteer editors and that they should always check facts in a few different places before citing a wiki entry as a source.

Then one of my children said I should become a Wikipedia volunteer if I was so concerned about facts. Plus, I heard a story on NPR a couple of years ago about the shortage of female editors to the site...all the more reason to lend a hand. So here I am! I was not always a full-time mom. A former brat, I spent a few years working for the military as a contractor...I think it's fairly common for brats to navigate toward the military life as adults. I hope to re-enter the paid workforce again someday after going back to school and earning a degree. But I digress!

I appreciate any and all feedback as I slowly learn the wiki editing ropes. Though my free time is limited, I want to contribute in a positive way!
