Today we will learn how to write a good lead (intro/abstract) section for an article.

Assignment 1) Read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lead_section

Assignment 2) Go to tinyurl.com/LeadKorea or tinyurl.com/LeadChinaWiki and find articles with bad lead sections. Show me bad introductions and tell me what is wrong with them and show me your attempt to fix such sections.

Tips and additional advice: common errors in the lead are "too short" and "too long". Those are relatively easy to fix. If the lead is too short, add more information. If it is too long, reduce the size of the lead; in that case make sure that the information you are removing exists elsewhere in the article - sometimes you may need to move (not remove) such information. If the error message states that the lead needs to rewritten, check history of the article and its talk page and see if the person who added that error message explained in more detail what is the problem. If you cannot identify the problem, you can start a discussion on the talk page asking the person who added the error message to explain their reasons (ping them using WP:ECHO).

Assignment 3) Consider using AI to help you with that - feed it the text of the entire article and ask it to generate a lead. Then check whether the new lead meets the requirements as outlined in the reading from Assignment 1.

Bonus activity: if you have created or significantly edited any articles on English Wikipedia, see if you can improve their leads.
