Please Hear Me

My heart breaks when being treated as someone less important to someone whose job is to monitor and protect. I know some don’t believe in Angels, but Angels are not just Spirits, they are people too. Some is paid to be that Angel and some are straight from the heart. Yet I have Sleepless nights, crying after everyone goes to bed so you don’t cause heart breaks with people who love you. Putting on a mask when in front of love ones or co-workers, so they don’t ask if everything is ok, yet hurting for someone to hear you.

A crime took place at Pearlridge Mall, between the hours of 4:40 to 5:45pm on Monday, September 29, 2008. My car was vandalized while my husband was in Dialysis and I was at work. My husband parked the car where a surveillance camera was located directly in front of the car, the other camera located in the rear and the third to the passenger side of my car. We have a routine that makes it easier for my husband, our daughter and I. Monday, Wednesday and Friday my husband drops me off at work in the morning after dropping our daughter off for her 7am college class. Around 4:40pm give or take my husband is parking the car at Pearlridge Mall, to meet his 5pm Dialysis appointment. Around 5:30pm depending on my job, a co-worker drops me off at Pearlridge Mall to get my car so I can pick up our daughter at college. I drop my daughter off at home and I return back to Pearlridge Mall, this has been our normal routine, ever since I found out that my husband almost got hit by a car while walking to Dialysis. On September 29, 2008 around 5:45pm, give or take, I was dropped off by one of my co-workers. I place my laptop in the trunk of the car as usual, got in to the drivers’ side, not thinking of anything. When I went to start up my car I noticed that there were smudges on my windshield, me being me, I thought a bird splattered our car as usual. When I turned on the windshield wiper, I saw pieces of something go a cross and then realized it was fish because of the smell. At first I thought someone flew their lunch out and it hit my car, still not thinking of anything, but when I looked towards my passenger window I noticed there were more smudges. At that point I got out of my car, walked around to the passenger side and realized that someone had purposely meant to damage my car. I did not know why and without jumping to any type conclusions, I decided to ask my husband first to see if he knew what happen to my car, but inside I knew he did not know, because the eggs and fish were fresh, like I just missed whoever did it. I went into where my husband were and when I asked him if he knew what happen to our car, his first words were yeah!, with excitement he said, “did you see that I got the first parking,” he was excited, normally he doesn’t find good parking. I informed him that our car has been splattered with eggs, fish and marked with a sharpie from front to back. He was shocked and in a daze because I woke him up. He said he does not know what happen; the look on my husbands’ face broke my heart because I knew he was hurt. I asked if he had a run in with anyone on his way to the mall, my husband said no except he scolded some high school kids because they were walking in the middle of the road. And thought nothing of it, but he insisted that they couldn’t have done it because there were no exchanging of words. I informed my husband that I will be talking to the Mall Security and making a report with them and a Police Officer. I went up to see Mall Security and ask them if they have Mall Security cameras because someone just damaged my car. Mall Security asks me where I was parked and I informed them that it was downstairs near Longs Drug Store. Mall Security told me to go downstairs by Longs Drug Store and Mall Security will be meeting you there. While standing inside by Longs Drug Store, I noticed a Mall Security on bike right outside, so I walked outside, but he did not acknowledge me, then I saw another Mall Security approach the one on the bike, and yet they still did not respond, I approached a little closer and they were being informed by someone on their walkie talkie. The Mall Security that was standing informed me that he (Mall Security on Bike) will be assisting you. We walked to the car so they (both Mall Security) could see what was done to my car. I was asked if I have enemies and I said not that I know of, and I informed them that this has never happen to me before where someone would purposely damage my car. Mall Security on the bike asks if I would like to make a report and I said yes, I was also asked if, I would like to make a Police Officer report, I said yes. So a Police Officer was called. I made the report with the Mall Security, when completed he checked it over, while we wait for Police Officer to show up. I notice that there was a sardine can next to my car, slightly in the parking stall next to me, which was most likely used on my car. I looked really good at the egg that was splattered on my car and noticed that it had to be fresh, because there were no smell to the egg(s). I informed Mall Security that it probably was purchased at Longs Drug Store. I walked to Longs Drug Store and ask for the Manager on duty, he was not helpful at all and brushed me off. Longs Drug Store Manager said he did not see anything, he did nothing further and ignored me, and so I thanked him and walked out. But then I realized that they have Mall Security cameras above the registers, so I returned back to Longs Drug Store, but this time I knew the Manager of Longs Drug Store did not want to get involved and brushed me off, again I left without any acknowledgment. I returned to were my car and the Mall Security was, waiting for Police Officer to arrive. When the Police Officer arrived, he ask me the same question Mall Security asked, “do you have any enemies?” and I repeated the same thing I told Mall Security. I did a report with the Police Officer, I showed the Police Officer the sardine can. I said whoever did this should have some type of record; whether high school or adult. The Police Officer completed his question with me and took the sardine can, after giving me the information of my report. The Police Officer left not to long after Mall Security left, I then got in my car and called up one of my best friend and explained what happened. I then drove to get my daughter from College, which I was late getting her. Knowing my daughter had her camera, I ask that she take pictures of what happen. I returned with her and her friend back to Pearlridge Mall. I went up to the Mall Security stand and ask if they have anything, he contacted his supervisor on duty that, “the woman whose car was damaged is here” Mall Security hung up the phone from his supervisor and informed me that the detective will get back to me. They never did, I waited all Tuesday for a phone call, but nothing. I returned again on Wednesday and they said nothing. But the Mall Security who is normally on duty during the time my husband has Dialysis, was outside in the parking lot. He was on his walkie, talkie, he circled the parking area where I was parked, walked up to my car, and then walked away, still not acknowledging me and the situation that happen on Monday. This happen after I took pictures of where the camera was from the stall my car was parked in the day it was damaged. My intention is not to press charges against the person(s) who did this, because I have a feeling it were kids, but I wanted to know why Mall Security did not catch this on camera and what made it worst, they ignored and gave me the run around by not acknowledging what had happen in a location they monitor. Mall Security is to ensure that we are there for shoppers, employees and visitors, to acknowledge crime taken place on their premises, to limit the crime that take place on the property the get paid to protect and bring some comfort to who ever comes to the mall. By doing what Mall Security did to me, made me feel unsafe, scared and crying every night since it happened. My husband has to go there every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for Dialysis and I wait for him after dropping our daughter off at home, I wait for about 4 hours give or take, at the Mall. I have to be there because sometimes I have to go in and tend to him due to he has nerve problems in his legs, also he was taken from Dialysis one day by ambulance, so being there for my husband gives me comfort because I am right there for him. I don’t feel like me anymore, I am paranoid about something else will happen and Mall Security will not respond, I kept my husband waiting for me for about two hours because I was to scared to go in. I knew that if something else happen to our car my husband would not take it so well and with his condition, I don’t want him uncomfortable. I should never have to choose between being scared because my property would be damaged again, and tending to my husband when he needs me. All I wanted was Mall Security to do their job, but they did nothing. I can’t stop crying at night or in the morning, my daughters are telling me, “everything will be ok,” yet I know they are hurt and worried because I am hurting. I go to work not fully concentrating on work, because I am too worried and wondering if everything is ok. I have been through rougher times in my life and it did not break me, but this could have been prevented and acknowledge. Mall Security Cameras are monitored continuously, just as long as the mall is open.

I always believe that God Guided us to where we are today, and God still Guides us throughout our years. I never asked for anything, and I have worked hard to get my family off the beach in 1992, I never stopped moving forward in my life because I wanted to give my family a better life, I did it without any support from family and friends, because I wanted our daughters to know “The Quality of Life,” and today my girls has learn just that. All I ask is, “Please Hear Me.” I don’t want to hurt anymore.
