This Spring is an American drum & bass/dance band formed by Go Away Mad! bassist and drummer, Patrick Hasse and Joe Bruels.
Before This Spring/Formation[edit]
Joe and Patrick met in 2006 when Joe moved from Ely, Minnesota to St. Clair, Minnesota and Joe attended school with Patrick. They weren't initally friends, however. In 2008, Joe and Patrick started becoming better friends, and discovered they both had similar taste in music.
In late 2009, Patrick invited Joe to join his band, Who We Are. (This name was later changed to Go Away Mad!) When GAM! went on haitus in April 2010, Patrick and Joe decided to form a drum & bass band. Patrick initally wanted to name the band Party in Ten (this is still the URL for the band's MySpace page), but they eventually decided on This Spring.
The band later added Ben Mackie (making the band have all of Go Away Mad!'s full time members) on synthesizer and Ava Peterson on bass clarinet.
