I started my career as an electron microscopist at the University of Bristol (UK) in the 1960s and have been working in biomedical electron microscopy (currently diagnostics) ever since! I did my undergraduate degree at University College Cardiff (Wales) and have also worked at the Tenovus Institute in Cardiff, University College Dublin (Ireland), the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide and currently, Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide (Australia).

Currently I am interested in the quality use of diagnostic TEM and I am involved in the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Program for diagnostic TEM. I am also involved in teaching medical science at Flinders University (Adelaide) and have an interest in promoting good scientific writing - to this end I run scientific writing workshops in Australia and, when I get the chance, 'overseas'.
