Paula Surridge is a senior lecturer at the School of Sociology, Political and International Studies, University of Bristol's[1] and a Deputy Director at UK in a Changing Europe[2]. She has written a number of reports. Her main interest is in social and political values, looking at both their origins in social structures and their consequences for political behaviour[3][4], including how they guiding voting patterns. She has applied this approach to studies of the UK's General Elections[5] and in the context of the Brexit referendum[6][7].

Career

From 1993 until 1996 Surridge worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Strathclyde and from 1994 until 1996 she also was a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. From 1996 until 1999, she was a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen in the Department for Sociology. 1999 till 2002 Surridge was a lecturer at the University of Salford in the School of English, Sociology, Politics and Contemporary History. From 2002 onwards, Surridge is a lecturer and senior lecturer at the University of Bristol, School of Sociology, Political and International Studies. Since 2021 she is Deputy Director at UK in a Changing Europe.

In her work as a senior lecturer she is known for her contribution to innovation in teaching and her commitment to inclusive education, which ensures all students, regardless of prior experiences can fully participate in quantitative methods units.
