The Mohammed VI Foundation of African scholars is an Islamic religious institution concerned with cooperation between Moroccan scholars and scholars from other African countries. To preserve religion from distortion and extremism, along with making its tolerant values in the service of stability and development in those countries. Founded on July 13, 2015. Led by King Mohammed VI of Morocco. The Foundation has its headquarters in Fez in the Kingdom of Morocco.
Historical background
[edit]Thanks to geographical and historical factors, ties were formed between Morocco and other African countries, making the Kingdom keen to maintain distinguished relations based on common constants with these countries. These relations have remained strong throughout history, not affected by incoming ideologies or colonial ambitions, and have resulted in a common desire among all to create and develop mechanisms for cooperation, especially in the scientific and spiritual fields. From this standpoint, the establishment of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African scholars came as a result of this cooperation in order to be a framework for unifying efforts among scholars of the African continent.
Founding
[edit]On the initiative of King Mohammed VI, King of the Kingdom of Morocco, the establishment of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars was announced at the Royal Palace in Casablanca on the night of Ramadan 26, 1436, corresponding to July 13, 2015, pursuant to Royal Decree No. 1.15.75 issued on Ramadan 7, 1436, corresponding to June 24.
Goals
[edit]The Foundation works to unify the efforts of Muslim scholars in Morocco and other African countries. It contributes to activating and consolidating the values of tolerance, coexistence and moderation in African societies for comprehensive development on the continent. In addition, Working on revive the Islamic heritage and establish intellectual and cultural activities that would give new momentum to the Islamic field. It cooperates with all bodies, organizations and centers with which it shares goals and objectives.
Headquarter
[edit]The headquarters of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African scholars is located in Fez after its transfer from the city of Rabat pursuant to Royal Decree No. 1.16.81 issued on 16 Ramadan 1437, corresponding to 22 June 2016.

Supreme Council
[edit]The Supreme Council of the Foundation ensured the formulation of its general directions and the preparation and adoption of its annual program. It studies the issues referred to it by the President of the Foundation and studies the projects related to the Corporation's budget and bylaws, and then submits this for approval by the Board itself. The Council also prepares and approves annual reports on its activities. The Board presents to the President of the Foundation the new membership applications after studying them.
