The existing Wikipedia article, “History of the Jews in Amsterdam,” limits its discussion of the Marrano and Sephardic Jews of Amsterdam to a brief explanation of how these groups arrived in Amsterdam. The subsection does not contain any information regarding the community’s reinvention of Jewish tradition and push towards modernity, following their previous status as conversos in Portugal and Spain. This is an essential component to understanding the uniqueness of the Jewish community in Amsterdam and how it evolved in future generations. Daniel M. Swetschinski’s analysis of Amsterdam’s Portuguese Jewish community in Reluctant Cosmopolitans will be a great resource to use to expand this portion of the Wikipedia article.

Also, “The Holocaust” subsection of the Wikipedia article has been reported to have been copied and pasted from an online source. The section does closely resemble that of the online source, and although it was not directly copied and pasted, it does need to be revised for it to not be in violation of Wikipedia plagiarism standards. Other online (ex. “Jewish Virtual Library”) and print sources will need to be used to improve the section. The citations in this section will also need to change to reflect the sources being used.

–Excellent topic but please try to use print sources from the library rather than these online sources. Or at least find scholarly articles and books through JSTOR/MUSE and the ebooks available through our library: http://library.wisc.edu. Prof. Bitzan Amos26 (talk) 18:19, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
