Navel piercing is the most common non ear-lobe piercing and can be seen in up to 29% of UK females and 2% of males.

It is the most common piercing that a doctor will see and is often imaged on X-rays and at CT.

Body piercing Is more common in women than in men and in younger age groups. In a recent UK survey, nearly half the women aged 16-24 reported having had a piercing and 10% of adults in the UK have non ear-lobe piercings navel . In another survey in a USA university, over 50% of students have body piercings.
