Tom Fitzgerald:

[edit]

I am an enthusiastic collector of archaic books, mainly 18th and early 19th century, particularly those with calf bindings. Not only are they pretty, but are all-too-often wonderful repositories of otherwise obscure or lost information, which I often aim to contribute, in the hope of bringing to light something which may be of importance to somebody, and otherwise unattainable.

My primary interests include History, Philosophy, Religion, Literature (Poetry and Prose, mainly 18th and 19th century; the Pastoral and the Romantics) and Psychology (particularly Jung and also Evolutionary Psychology), as well as Musical instruments and their histories.

I also follow a fond fascination with the esoteric and occult, and particularly the art of Alchemy, although I regard these as phenomenon wrought by our individual psychologies, rather than any larger metaphysical system.

Anthropology also interests me, particularly in relation to Archaeology.

Polymathy also fascinates me, as does engineering, such as of Brunel and the Industrial Revolution...

And my rambling shall cease here!
