Igor Stassiouk -- renowned professional Executive Chef - was born April 5, 1963, in the town of Bibrka, Lviv region, Ukraine. Since his childhood, Igor has been very interested in cooking, and the first teacher was his mother. In the wake of the Ukraine gaining independence from the Soviet Union, Igor enjoyed the newly granted freedom to travel abroad and widen his cooking experience beyond the Ukraine. Resident in London since 1996, he has maintained and promoted Ukrainian culture and culinary traditions.

In order to gain professional skills, Igor began his studies in Waltham Forest College in London, venue for professional chefs, in 1998, which he was able to complete earlier than planned in 2000 with an honours degree. As a professional chef, Igor has worked in several restaurants and catering establishments in London, including "The Ritz" (Piccadilly) and, for many years as head chef in the restaurant "Smith's" (King Cross/St. Pancras), for "Price Water House Coopers" (London Bridge), Sodexho Ltd, and for the restaurant “Old Fire Station “(Hammersmith ) Furthermore, he was engaged as a consultant in the restaurant business, and trained many new chefs who are now working in the catering and restaurant. The new recipes devised by Igor enjoy great popularity among diners, including ”Pancakes with chicken paste and cheese”, “raw beetroot salad“ with seasoned wholegrain mustard and honey, “calves’ liver under the snow”, pork cutlets with apricots and brandy ,......... ..

In 2001 Igor had a son called Ivan Stassiouk.

On numerous occasions, Igor has arranged catering for special events in the Embassy of the Ukraine in London, for MPs in the Parliament of Westminster, also for charity evenings of the Ivan Kupala Fundraising Party (http://www.flyuia.com/eng/2314/may.html), and for several official organisations such as the "Ukrainian-British City Club" (www.ubcc.co.uk / event), Danusha Fine Art (www.danusha-fine-arts.co.uk) and famous persons.

Igor is the author of two books The first book about Ukrainian gourmet cuisine was published in 2006 for the United Kingdom market, (ISBN 978-0-9555628-0-8) (www.whsmith.co.uk> Books).In more 121 pages, the book features more than 100 of Ukrainian cuisine recipes and includes colour photos of various dishes.


The second book "Ukrainian Christmas Feast" (ISBN 978-0-9555628-1-5) (www.waterstones.com> Reference> Christmas books) (www.whsmith.co.uk> Books) has 104 pages and was intended to acquaint people in England with the celebration of traditional Christmas in Ukraine. This book features an introductory note of Bishop Gleb Lonchyna (Apostolic Exarchate Admistrator for Ukrainian Catholics in Great Britain). The book was published in Ukrainian and English, and includes carols and recipes for Christmas Eve, together colour photos of a range of dishes.

A copy of the book "Modern Ukrainian Recipe Collection" Ref: 14554157, and "Ukrainian Christmas Fest" Ref: 15761499, is held in the “British Library”, and the book "Українське Різдво" is also registered in the "National Library of Ukraine» (www.irbis-nbuv .gov.ua/.../cgiirbis_64.exe?...) Igor has published newly created recipes in the London newspaper "Ukrainian London", and also in the French edition of "Perspectives" (www.etudesukrainiennes.fr/_subdr/Lettre_Persp_Jan2011.pdf)
