Thierry Capezzone is a French comic book artist, currently living in Denmark. He was born on 2nd November 1963 in Lyon, France. He started his comic book journey in Spirou magazine in 1992 as an assistant to Daniel Kox on the L'Agent 212 series. In the 90s, he worked with Vincent Mike Deporter on the Dingo-pubs series for Spirou and with Michel Rodrigue on the Les Pieds Nickelés series at Vents d'Ouest. He did many illustrations for Spirou magazine as well as the short series Aquafolies.

In 2003, he created a series of books called Adventures of Young H.C. Andersen together with Danish writer Jan Rybka. The series based on the life and fairy tales of famous Danish author Hans Christian Andersen had great success and has been translated into several languages, including English. In the 2000s he was very productive and worked on numerous publications both in Scandinavia and France. Among others, he draws the adventures of the p'tit Chabal (Vents d'Ouest editions).


Since 2010, Thierry Capezzone author of the new adventures of Petzi (Rasmus Klump), created originally by Vilhelm and Carla Hansen. In 2017, he published the first pure comic book of Petzi’s adventures ever called Petzi and the volcano. The album was released in several countries and by 2023 been published already four successful albums. Thierry also collaborates on the reprint of the original publications in the French language with Caurette editions.

Thierry Capezzone has been making comic books based on Kjell Aukrust's novel series about the fictional Norwegian village of Flåklypa since 2015. He draws one album a year that is released every year as special Christmas albums by Egmont Norway editions.

Thierry Capezzone has been working on several albums about Scandinavian history. Together with Jan Rybka, he created two albums of 'Daniel og Alisha' (Geografforlaget 2007-2008), a children's comic series for history education. He created a comic book about 16th-century Danish clergyman and bureaucrat 'Stygge Krumpen' (Forlaget Vendila 2011). He is also the author of a comic book about Margaretha II of Denmark, 'Daisy - en prinsesse i Danmark' (Forlaget Cobolt 2014), and one about the Danish resistance leader Skipper Clement (Forlaget Cobolt 2016). In 2017 he reunited with his drawing partner Vincent Deporter for an album about the Danish transition to Protestantism in the 16th century called The King and the Monk. In 2015, Capezzone created 'På sporet af Kim', a comic about the youth years of the Danish rock star Kim Larsen.


In 2022, Thierry Capezzone started with his work on a Danish album called "The saga of Folkvard" which is based on the arrival of Christianity among the Vikings. The book will be published in 2023.

Thierry Capezzone's H.C. Andersen series have received many awards over the years, including the Grand Prix Loge Andersen Odense (2004), the prizes for "Best Comic" and "Best Danish Artist' (2004-2005) as decided by the seriejournalen.dk website, the Prix Jeunesse for "Best Juvenile Comic" (2008) at the Festival Bédédcine of Illzach, the Norwegian School and Library Award (2011), and the Prix de la BD: Art Bubble (2014). His co-creation 'P'tit Chabal' won the 2015 Prix Jeunesse at the Festival of Fabreges, while 'Rasmus Klump and the Volcano' won him another Prix Jeunesse (2017) at the Festival of Illzach. In 2022, Thierry Capezzone was awarded the Grand Prix 2022 at the Bédéciné comics festival in Illzach, France.
