Countries and Populaiton[edit]

All the countries that located within Amazon River Basin are developing countries. Although the basin covered nearly 6 million square kilometers in land area, the average population density is just 4.5 people/square kilometers. The highest average population density happens in Ecuador that located at the west side of the basin.

Water Issues and Management[edit]

Water Issues[edit]

Although very few areas of the Amazon River Basin are being irrigated. There are 4 big projects and constructions on the river. Brazil, Bolivia, Columbia and Ecuador has 1 for each. As the result, not only due to the high evapotranspiration of high temperature, also the extraction of water, Brazil and Columbia have the the largest surface runoff each year. These two countries and Venezuela also experience the most stressful water stress.
