Ichiro Kawabata

Ichiro Kawabata was born in Chiba, Japan in February 3, 1968, on the Shinto holiday of Setsubun. Son of a university administrator, Kawabata studied mechanical engineering in Japan and later studied at the Univesity of Oregon in the United States. Following his graduation in 1990, Kawabata worked three years for Mitsubishi Corporation in management training. But, in 1993, at the age of 26, Kawabata entered a Soto Buddhist monestary where he studied for 3 years. Following this, he pursued interests in investments working as a day trade and eventually an associate in the mergers and aquisitions division in Goldman Sacks in Tokyo.
