I have studied Biological Sciences at The Heidelberg_University in Germany and at The University of Salamanca in Spain, where I have gained my first MSc in 2000. Later I studied Biochemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet in Munich and at The University of Salamanca and I obtained my second MSc in 2001. In September that year I started a research project at the GSF-Forschungszentrum für Umwelt und Gesundheit in Munich that lead to the completion of my PhD in Molecular Biology, focussed on the repair of DNA. After working for two years at Applied Biosystems coordinating different projects in the UK, France and Italy I got involved in an European project, dealing with rare diseases.
