Benefits - Noxal Oil Field has plenty of benefits for the future of Mexico. The discovery will give Mexico more financial stability. It would be tough for Mexico to survive without its natural resources, oil being the most important. The United States relies mainly on Mexico for their supply of oil. With the discovery of Noxal Oil Field, Mexico will be able to provide more oil to the United States and bring more money into their country. This new oil field will also be able to provide more jobs for Mexicans and that is beneficial to their economy. Sara916 (talk) 09:16, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

The article is a very interesting article but it is way too short. I want to add more data and resources to this article for a better understanding of the Noxal Oil Fields of Mexico.Igneousrocksrule (talk) 22:06, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
This page needs to be expanded with more information as it is labeled a "stub". Also, more citations need to be inserted such as here: "10 billion barrels (1.6 billion cubic metres) of crude oil." Iloveolivine! (talk) 22:10, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Theory of Origin:
The Noxal Oil field is located just off the Veracruz Coast in the Gulf of Mexico. It is a little over half a mile underwater and and even further 2.5 miles deep underground. This finding is important because it shows there can be oil found underneath the bedrock. According to the abiotic theory, Earth created these oils in the Gulf from inorganic materials, not from fossil fuels. It is believed that hydrocarbons in the mantle found a way to the bedrock through cracks, caused by a comet dating back to the Mesozoic era, that created sedimentary layers at the surface. Hence, the Noxal Oil Field is just one of many oil fields that exists in the Gulf and has been explored.[2]

Research:
In December of 2005, the quest to drill into the Gulf began with the intent to replace the dwindling supply of oil from the Cantarell field. Pemex, a Mexican petroleum company, began their first deepwater research and discovered Noxal and Lakach. Noxal, located in the Catemaco Folded Belt, was the first ever deepwater oil well found by Pemex. The news about this discovery went public in 2006. Testings were conducted at four intervals and it confirmed the well was indeed filled with natural gas, containing 10 billion barrels of oil. After the success of the Noxal oil field, Pemex drilled into the second oil field it discovered, Lakach. More wells have been discovered and ready to be drilled into so Pemex can bring these gases to land. However, there were issues encountered at the time because Pemex had no knowledge or experience with deepwater drilling and they were allowed no outside help due to the nationalization of oil reserves in Mexico. This was one of the reasons for the country’s decline in the production of oil in the first place.[3]
Melissa's Peer Edit
[edit]In response to the Research: I like how you explain everything so well. You mention a topic and you explain what it is. Where you say that "testings were done at four intervals and it confirmed," you can revise it to "When tests were conducted at four different intervals, they confirmed that ..." You can add to your sentence that says "More well have been discovered and are ready to be drilled into." May I suggest that you start a new sentence so it's not so wordy. In your sentence that starts with however, maybe change the "at the time because " to "and at that time Pemex ...." You can add the word "for" in front of your last sentence to show the impact it really had. Other than that I think your information is really clear and you have the right information needed to add to your article. Mgh972103 (talk) 04:23, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Human Events- Mexico Discoveries Giant Oil Field in Gulf
Discoveries
My first source is an article about what Noxal is and its origins. Also, what benefits this discovery has. I will use this information about its origins and benefits to improve the wikipedia page. My second source is about the findings of the Noxal Oil Field, which also contains images, its structural geology, what types of rocks can be found here, and just more facts about its reservoirs and reserves all of which are vital to make the wikipedia page full of information. The future of oil in Mexico
Exploration and Discoveries
I chose this research paper because it is full of factual evidence as to what Noxal is and where it is located. It also mentions how promising Noxal would have been. I will use this information to add on to the wikipedia page to make it better. The second source I chose is full of explorations about Noxal oil fields. This will be used to add to actual research conducted on sight, which will be added to improve the wikipedia page. It I important because Mexico could have possibly had the largest oil reserves than Saudi America- it definitely would have been a game changer. Igneousrocksrule (talk) 00:31, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
According to Jim Gilchrist and Jerome Corsi from the text, Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders, Noxal Oil Field adds around 20 more years to oil production for Mexico. That is beneficial for Mexico because it will bring in more money for them.
According to the text, Annexing Mexico: Solving the Border Problem Through Annexation and Assimilation by Erik Rush, the Noxal Oil Field was a big discovery for Mexico. It can almost double oil production for them.
This book only mentions the Noxal Field once and provides little to no additional information about it. It is not a useful source. HydrogeologyProf (talk) 00:45, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Both of these citations are beneficial to the Wikipedia page because they offer incite on how Noxal Oil Field is beneficial for Mexico's oil business.
