Phase VI Media is a digital media company based in Glasgow, Scotland, specialising in short films and music videos. The company was formed in 2006 by Gregor Barclay, Mark Buchanan and Colin Bell, with the intention of producing a wide variety of short and feature productions with international appeal.
To this date, the company has delivered a number of short films including The Science Experiment (2006) and The Great Outdoors (2007), an entrant to the 2007 Straight 8 Film Festival. Projects slated for completion in 2008 include the drama Voices, directed by Adam Campbell, Gregor Barclay's directorial debut Gravel and Whispering Palms, to be produced as the Phase VI entry to the 2008 Straight 8 Film Festival.
Since 2006, the company has been developing a number of feature films, most prominent among them the science fiction thriller The Simulation. In 2006, Phase VI began a media campaign to raise the film's budget, by offering 'Associate Producer' and 'Executive Producer' credits on the film in return for investment in the moive. The Simulation is still in development, although the film's website has recently indicated new activity and a resolve to deliver the film by the end of 2008.
Whilst putting together the financial package for the Simulation, the film's production team travelled to the Cannes Film Festival in 2006, appearing in the 'C'est La Vie section of the May 25th edition of Variety magazine.
