හිපොක්‍රිටස් විසින් ක්‍රි.පූ. 400 දී පමණ හෝමියෝපති ක්‍රමය ආරම්භ කර ඇති බවට හෝමියෝපති ඖෂධවේදීන් ප්‍රකාශ කරන බව පෙනෙන්නට තිබේ. ඒ ඔහු විශාල මාත්‍රාවකින් උමතු විය හැකි බව දන්නා විට උමතු රෝගීන්ට ප්‍රතිකාර කිරීම සඳහා මැන්ඩ්රේක් මුල්වල කුඩා මාත්‍රාවක් නියම කළේය. 16 වන ශතවර්ෂයේදී ඖෂධවේදී පුරෝගාමියෙකු වූ පැරාසෙල්ස්ස් ප්‍රකාශ කළේ, "මිනිසෙකු රෝගී කරන ද්‍රව්‍යයක කුඩා මාත්‍රාවකින් එම රෝගයම සුව කරන්නේය" යන්නයි. සැමුවෙල් හානමන් (1755-1843) හෝමියෝපති නම සහ ඔහුගේ මූලධර්ම 18 වන ශතවර්ෂයේ අග භාගයේදී ලබා දුන්නේය.
18 වන හා 19 වන සියවසේ අග භාගයේ දී ප්‍රධාන වෛද්‍ය ක්‍රම අතර ලේ වැගිරීම් සහ පිරිසිදු කිරීම වැනි ක්‍රම භාවිත කළ අතර, ඔපියම්, සුවඳ වර්ග සහ පොලොන් මස් ඇතුළු ද්‍රව්‍ය 64 කින් සෑදූ වැනීර් පැණි වැනි සංකීර්ණ මිශ්‍රණ භාවිතා කරන ලදී. මෙම ප්‍රතිකාර ක්‍රම බොහෝ විට රෝගය දරුණු කිරීමට ඉඩ ඇති අතර සමහර අවස්ථාවලදී මාරාන්තික විය හැකිය. හානමන් සියවස් ගණනාවක් පුරා වර්ණනා කර තිබූ මෙම ක්‍රමවේදයන් අතාර්තික හා නොසැලකිලිමත් බව පවසා ප්‍රතික්ශේප කලේය. ඒ වෙනුවට ඖෂධ කුඩා මාත්‍රා වලින් සහ තනි තනි ඖෂධ භාවිතා කිරීම උපදෙස් දුන් අතර ජීවීන්ගේ රෝග සඳහා ආධ්‍යාත්මික මෙන්ම භෞතික හේතුද ඇති බව පැවසීය.
ස්කොට් ජාතික වෛද්‍යවරයෙක් හා රසායන විද්‍යාඥයෙක් වූ විලියම් කැල්නන් විසින් රචිට වෛද්‍ය නිබන්ධයක් ජර්මන් බසට විට හෝමියෝපති පිලිබඳ අදහස හානමන් තුල හට ගත්බව සඳහන්ය.මැලේරියා රෝගය සුව කිරීම සඳහා සින්කෝනා ශාක කොටස් භාවිතා කිරීම පිලිබඳ න්‍යාය ගැන සැක සිතූ හානමන් එම පොත්තේ කොටසක් ආහාරයට ගත්තේය.මැලේරියා රෝගයට සමාන ලෙස හන්දි වේදනාව, උණ, ඇඟ සිතල කිරීම වැනි රෝගලක්ෂණ ඔහු අත්දුටුවේය.මෙයින් හානමන් නිගමනය කලේ පුරාණ වෛද්‍යවරුන් යෝජනා කල පරිදි (සමාන දෙයින් සමාන දෙය සුව කිරීම ) රෝග වලට පලදායී ඖෂධ නිරෝගී පුද්ගලයන්ගේ රෝගයට සමාන ලක්ෂණ ඇති කරන බවයි.නමුත් 1861දී ඔලිවර් වෙන්ඩල් හොල්ම්ස් සඳහන් කර ඇත්තේ ඔහු විසින්ද සින්කෝනා පරිබෝජනය කලනමුත් හානමන් අත්දකිනලද ලක්ෂණ නොදැක්ක බවයි.හානමන්ගේ සමාන බවේ නිතිය විද්‍යාත්මක නිගමනයකට වැඩ උපකල්පනයක් බව සඳහන්ය. මෙම නිතිය හෝමියෝපති නම නිර්මාණය කිරීමට දායක විය. ග්‍රීක බසින් හෝමියෝ යන්නෙන් සමාන ලෙසත් පති යන්නෙන් පීඩාව හෙවත් වේදනාව ලෙස හැඳින්වේ.
පසුකාලින විද්‍යාත්මක සොයාගැනීම් තහවුරු වී ඇත්තේ සින්කෝනා ශාකයෙන් මැලේරියාව සුව වන්නේ එහි අඩංගු ක්වීනින් නම් ඖෂධයක් මගින් ප්ලස්මොඩියම් පල්සිපාරුම් නම් පරපෝෂිතයා විනාශ කරන නිසා බවත්, එය හානමන්ගේ අදහස් වලට කිසිම සමබන්දයක් නොමැති බවත්ය.
