In the world of musuic there is a diverse and important field that comes from New York. This has been an ongoing thing for many genres. This could be genres such as jazz, rock, soul music, R&B, funk, blues, classical and art music. This is the birthplace for many of the more modern day music such has hip hop, and disco along with salsa music. It has not only been a birthplace for music in the United State but in other places such as Cuba as well. There was a combination of music by Puerto Rican influences when they cam together in the New York Latino neighborhood in the 1960s. Since all these different music genres were rising at this time that is when they began to open the Broadway musical theatre that is now very well known in New York City. New York has been a major part of the development of the music industry in the United States.

Broadcast radio[edit][edit]

The original Radio City that was on Sixth Avenue and was centered on 30 Rockefeller Plaza. This included Radio City Music Hall, which was guilty for different enterprises for example NBC. On Fifth Avenue there was an International Complex that was built to house foreign based tenants. Of the original complex, Eastern Air Lines also printed media. This complex is famous for many things such as the large qualities of art that was present in almost all of the building as well as the expansion underground concourse. The south east corner of the complex were built by private interests in the 1950s on 600 Fifth Avenue. In the winter the most commonly known aspects are the ice-skating rink as well as the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
