JR Kwong was born on September 15, 1998 in Cagayan de Oro City. She is the daughter of Reynaldo Kwong and Joycelyn Jesusa Cantero. She has younger sister Jo Stephany Cantero (Dayda). She is a Cebuano with Chinese roots. She finished primary school at the Angelicum Learning Center, and now she is a 3rd Year High School Student of St. Mary's Academy of Carmen in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.
