The Centro Universitário Internacional (in English: International University Center), better known as Uninter, is a Brazilian institution of higher education located in Curitiba, Paraná. Through its five campuses in Curitiba, and its On-site Support Centers (in Portuguese: Polos de Apoio Presencial) established in all the States of Brazil, Uninter offers degree courses in the in-class, blended learning and distance education modes.
History
[edit]1996 to 2000
[edit]Uninter was founded in 1996 by Wilson Picler, when he created the Instituto Brasileiro de Pós-Graduação e Extensão, IBPEX, (in English: Brazilian Institute of Postgraduate Education and Extension) in Curitiba.
2000 to 2011
[edit]In 2000 the IBPEX established the Faculdade Internacional de Curitiba, Facinter (International Faculty of Curitiba). At first, this institution offered in-class academic programs for undergraduate degrees in Business administration, Political science, Administrative assistancy and Tourism. In the following year, Facinter was accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education to offer in-class postgraduation courses (insert note: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undergraduate_degree#Brazil), through an agreement with the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), also offering with that University a special Masters degree in Latin-American Integration, emphasizing Mercosul, at Facinter´s campus in Curitiba.
Besides this Masters degree, Facinter has begun to offer postgraduation courses in Management and International Law, through an agreement with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
In 2002, with the foundation of the Faculdade de Tecnologia de Curitiba, Fatec (Technology Faculty of Curitiba), in-class undergraduate courses in the area of Technology began to be offered. From 2003 on, Fatec has started offering these courses in the distance education mode.
In 2006, Facinter has begun to offer undegraduate courses in the distance education mode, the first one being a degree in Pedagogy.
