Jennifer Crestol, singer born Los Angeles, 16th. May 1979.
Jennifer Crestol is one of the most exciting vocal talents on the horizon. With a voice that has received international praise as "outstanding", "inspirational" and "hauntingly beautiful” her vocal qualities have been compared to Karen Carpenter, Eva Cassidy and Sarah Brightman. The 28-year-old Los Angeles native is poised to captivate the world with her unique musical gift.
To anyone who knows Jennifer, her expanding presence on the music scene is of no surprise. She has worked with some of the world’s most highly respected producers, writers and artists such as Walter Afanasieff, Haydn Bendall, Richard Bona, Damian Draghici, David Foster, Humberto Gatica, The London Symphony Orchestra, Jeremy Lubbock, Richard Page, Bill Ross and Dan Siegel, as well as many other talents on past and recent recordings. What becomes instantly clear is that the best of the best in the music industry all stand firmly behind this outstanding artist.
Jennifer’s life was filled with music from the start. Whilst most of Jennifer's friends weaned themselves on Christina's pure pop or Alanis' angst, Jennifer painted her formative musical tastes with a multi-faceted musical palette.
"I loved everything, listened to everything; I was like a sponge soaking up the music and voices I heard. I was hungry for good music. I was so affected by the music I listened to that I would put on one of my many favorite CDs and be transported to another world where I could feel safe and connected. Music is a very strong healer and extremely powerful. No matter what religion, race or language one is part of music transcends all. It really is the only international language and it enriches our lives. Some of the most inspiring and influential artists I listened to were Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Jackson, Karen Carpenter, Sting, Carol King, Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, Frank Sinatra, Eva Cassidy, Whitney Houston, Josephine Baker, Mel Torme, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Genesis, Judy Garland, Celine Dion, Chet Baker, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Dean Martin, Julie Andrews, Linda Ronstadt, amongst many, many others. I wanted to listen to the best and I loved it all. Each one taught me something about music's ability to offer hope and empowerment, as well as sheer joy."
"I have had the honour of working with the legends I had dreamed of working with since I was a young child and what I have learned from their wisdom and experience is priceless. I have had very challenging moments in the last few years but I have very definite ideas about my music. It has to be real and authentic and most importantly there is always a message I want my audience to hear. I sing with my heart and the passion comes from life experiences that I want to share with people. I get to a point where I am emotionally naked and it can be a bit scary to be so exposed but it is the only way to touch people, by being honest with what I am singing and expressing myself without fear of judgement. When I hear or decide to sing a song I have to be touched or inspired by the music and the lyrics. After all I am telling a story. The music and lyrics have to grab me, catch my attention. The song has to touch upon honest, human emotion and experience."
"Music speaks to who I am. People ask me about my image, my music is my image. My being is in my singing."
"I've always dreamed of having an affect on people that mirrors the way my favourite artists helped me get through the most difficult times in my life and the way they helped me find joy in the best times of my life. If I can touch just one person, affect one person's life, help them to believe in themselves, touch, inspire, and comfort them, then I have done my job and I will always know it was all worth it."
Jennifer has touched countless people throughout the world. In Romania, she received enthusiastic ovations from an audience of over 100,000 people (and an additional 23 million more, who watched the event on European TV). This remarkable concert was aired throughout the United States on PBS. Other concert venues include Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Israel and Holland saw her cheered by crowds of 15-20,000.
Jennifer Crestol has the gift, the voice and the ability to touch people via her amazing, utterly unique vocal instrument. At the genesis of what will surely be a remarkable career, she has one final dream. "I want a career that will last a lifetime and my music to last long after I am gone. Music styles come and go but the real artists create a catalogue that never goes out of style; they keep evolving with the times. I dedicate my life to making that dream a reality."
It's safe to say, we're all just hearing the very first notes of what is sure to be a lasting and remarkable musical voyage.
